April 7, 2023

Thank you so much to our Elementary School PTA for hosting the annual family bing-glow night! We appreciate all your hard work in planning this event and the many other free activities for our students, parents, and staff you facilitate.

Our open enrollment period begins April 17 and concludes May 31. The form is available on our website and @ KLSD 2023-24 Open Enrollment Form. If this is the first year your child will open enroll at Keystone, you must provide a recent official transcript or record of achievement and record of any suspensions or expulsions from the present and previous school term. Students receiving special education services must provide a copy of their current Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Any applicable custodial or divorce orders must also be provided. Applications will not be considered without these documents. Please contact Superintendent Assistant Yvonne Gnagy at 440-355-2424 or at Yvonne.gnagy@keystoneschools.org with questions.

In response to community feedback, the Board of Education made adjustments to the 2023-2024 school calendar. The 2023-24 and 2024-25 school calendars will be voted on at the Board of Education meeting on April 17. The upcoming school calendars for the next two years are on the news section of our website and are also available via the links below.

Our annual senior vs. faculty game will take place next Wednesday, April 12. Doors will open at 6pm, and the competition will begin at 6:30. The night will include a volleyball and basketball game, slam dunk contest, and a 3-point contest. Senior superlatives will be announced during the basketball game’s halftime break. Admission is $5. To continue to highlight the new courses at Keystone High School next year, this week’s feature class is KHS Science Teacher Dave Jones’ Introduction to Engineering Design course. The course is designed as a two-year sequence. Students will be exposed to the world of engineering and advanced manufacturing. They will receive instruction on 3-D design and will learn to use Fusion 360, a cloud-based 3D modeling software platform. Students will delve into reverse engineering, the design process, and structural engineering. The course material will be structured around project development and problem-based learning.  The high school is presently investigating the availability of college credits through Lorain County Community College for the course.

As a reminder, the KHS Yearbook Club is currently accepting submissions for special tribute pages for the Class of 2023. These are sold on a first-come, first-serve basis and there is limited space available. Submissions are due Friday, April 21. This deadline will change if space is full prior to this date. More information, including the submission process is available @ Class of 2023 Tribute Pages.

Have a wonderful Easter weekend Wildcats!
