February 16, 2023

At our upcoming Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, Feb 21, GPD, our strategic planning consultants, will show numerous options for our master facilities plan. This is not a formal approval for any facilities nor will any decisions be made at this time. The purpose of this is to see cost and placement options and the viability of adding facilities to our campus. We would like to stress that this is in its EARLY development phase. The ideas and plans set forth are by no means final. Additional research will be conducted into our new initiatives, and we will solicit your feedback. At the board meeting, we will also discuss the school calendar options for the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 school years.

We are very excited for the new course offerings at Keystone High School next school year! Featured this week is the Fundamentals of Home Repair and Maintenance class, developed by KHS Social Students teacher Scott Schuster. Throughout the course, students will tour the standard plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems of the average home to understand the fundamentals of how homes are constructed. They will learn about performing annual home maintenance, such as stopping leaks, patching walls, and changing air vents, in addition to instruction on upgrading both interior and exterior facets of a home, unclogging drains, changing outlets, replacing faucets, and more! In addition, local business owners will be invited to present to the class, demonstrating their trades one-on-one with students. This not only builds rapport with business owners but also enables students to learn the inner-workings of numerous trades. We will continue our new course highlights in our upcoming newsletters!
