Thank you so much to KHS Social Studies Teacher Scott Schuster for coordinating another awesome Washington, DC trip for our sophomores! There were many stops on the trip, including the White House, Capital Building, Supreme Court, Arlington National Cemetery, and the MLK, FDR, Vietnam, Korean, WWII, and Lincoln Memorials. Students also visited the Holocaust, Smithsonian, and Marine Corps Museum in addition to attending a play at the Kennedy Performing Arts Center and traveling to Mount Vernon. Special thanks again to Scott Schuster and chaperones Shannon Heffernan, Tracy Abfall, Michelle Compton, and Bruce Broad.

Our fifth graders did a great job today at their Veteran’s Day concert. They performed numerous patriotic songs, including the Star Spangled Banner, Fifty Nifty United States, God Bless the USA, and many more. Attendees also enjoyed listening to retired United States Air Force Sergeant Bruce Turner. Great job to KES Music Teacher Anne Paulchell for organizing this awesome performance. We are honored to be able to recognize both active service and veteran members of our Nation’s Armed Forces.

This morning we were excited to welcome 27 new students into our National Honor Society (NHS) at the annual NHS Induction Ceremony.  Students are selected for NHS based upon the four pillars of the organization: character, scholarship, leadership, and service. View both our current and new members @ NHS 2022-2023. Congratulations to these students on their induction into this distinguished organization.

In upcoming events, the KHS Drama Club will present the Keystone Variety Show on Thursday, November 17 at 7pm at KHS. The show consists of singing, dancing, skits, and features our school’s comedians and poets. Admission is $5 per ticket.

The KHS Choir Department’s annual LIP SYNC BATTLE is Tuesday, November 22. The event begins at 6pm in the high school cafeteria. Admission is $2 at the door. We will have raffle tickets and concessions for sale. Please come out to cheer on your fellow classmates and teachers! All proceeds support our choir department!

Lastly, we are in desperate need of Special Needs Paraprofessional substitutes.  You do not need a Bachelor’s degree; the requirements are a high school diploma and paraprofessional/monitor’s license. This license can be obtained in less than one week! Special Needs Paraprofessionals will often have a 1:1 student/teacher ratio. Read more @ KLSD Employment/Substitutes.

Have an amazing weekend Keystone!
