Why is my child being picked up by a Black River bus?
We are borrowing buses from Black River and potentially Firelands, Buckeye, and other Lorain County Districts, due to mechanical issues, and the need to update our fleet.
Why don’t you just buy new buses?
We can save approximately $40,000 if we wait to buy a bus on or after July 1, 2020. If we buy a bus ANYTIME before that, even on June 30, 2020, we will not receive State funding.
A bus costs roughly $90,000. By waiting to buy a bus until July 1, 2020, we are saving nearly $50,000. This is why we have chosen to ask other districts to assist us in providing buses for the rest of this school year.
