Facilities Update, Employment

Welcome back Keystone to the 2020 school year! We are very proud of all the things we accomplished together in 2019 and know that our District will see continued success in 2020!

Our strategic plan, developed in 2018, provides a pathway for our success. The plan involved five target areas: Facilities, Community Pride, Whole Child, Personnel, and Technology. We are preparing a comprehensive publication of the goals we have achieved thus far and our ongoing work in each of our target areas. In this and in my upcoming weekly newsletters, I will provide a glimpse of our progress in each area, with the full strategic plan update to be published mid-February.

In the facilities target area, our mission is to ensure that all facilities are welcoming and aesthetically pleasing. In addition, we will ensure our facilities safely support all aspects of education, the arts, and athletics. Many strides have been made in this target area. Our Grounds and Maintenance Department, led by our outstanding Maintenance Supervisor Buddy Trego, have done a phenomenal job of seeking knowledge, attending trainings, obtaining grants, assessing our needs, utilizing different types of equipment for efficiency and cost-effectiveness, and employing best practices. The trees surrounding the campus, the increased campus signage, LED lighting in the parking lot, operation of the KHS clock tower, and the updated track surface are just a few examples of the great work of Buddy and the entire Maintenance and Grounds Department. Please look forward to additional information about our accomplishments in my upcoming newsletters and in our full strategic plan update in February!

In employment news, we are still seeking substitute teachers as well as substitute and full-time bus and van drivers. For substitute teacher positions, qualified applicants will hold a bachelor’s degree (in any field) and pass a FBI & BCI background check. Qualified applications for driver positions must be 21 years or older, have a clean driving record, and pass a FBI & BCI Background check. A CDL certification is preferred; however free training is also available. For either position, please apply in person or send in a resume to Keystone’s Board of Education Office, 580 Opportunity Way, LaGrange, Ohio.

Have a great weekend Keystone!
