Academic Success, Conferences, Cell Phones

The first quarter of the 2019-2020 school year has come to an end! Great job students and staff for making this a successful, fun, and interactive first quarter! I encourage you to gather feedback about your child’s progress by attending our upcoming conferences. Keystone Middle School and Keystone High School will hold parent/teacher conferences on Thursday, Nov 14 and Tuesday, Nov 19 from 4:30-7:30pm. Keystone Elementary’s conferences are on Tuesday, Nov 12 and Thursday, Nov 21 from 4:30-7:30. Specific details and sign-up information will be sent to parents as the events approach.

Thanks so much to our student-athlete volunteers and Athletic Director Jon Bailey for helping to make progress on our campus tree plan. Our volunteers, under the supervision of Davey Tree Company landscapers, planted 16 trees; landscapers also planted two large spade trees. Prior to Thursday, we had six spruce trees planted in September. Another facet of the campus tree plan is to continue our collaboration with the community. Thursday’s tree planting is an example of this partnership as is our tree sponsorship program. Sponsorship information can be found in the news section of our website or you can contact Athletic Director Mr. Jon Bailey for additional details at 440-355-2400 or at jonathan.bailey@keystoneschools.org.

Recently, with parents, students, staff, and board members, we have been discussing both the benefits and drawbacks of cell phone use during the school day by examining credible research and statistics.  When we present these statistics on our website or social media pages, our intention is to inform our audience; the research statistics are not reflective of District opinions.  They also do not reflect a change as we have no plan to modify our present cell phone policy. Please contact me with any concerns about this topic or others relating to our District. It is very helpful for us to keep the lines of communication open, so we can assure accurate information is received, and so we can be informed about parental concerns and questions.

Have a wonderful weekend Keystone!
