It’s been a busy last full week of school! We have had many outstanding student performances, successful PRIDE reward events, academic recognition programs, and more. Thank you to all of our staff as these outstanding programs are a direct reflection of the time and effort spent on preparing these events.
Great job to the teachers and staff of students from kindergarten through seventh grade for putting on an awesome Young Authors open house. It was very well attended, and visitors said they enjoyed reading students’ original works, participating in craft and writing activities, and watching the play put on by Mrs. Hetsler’s third graders. We look forward to continuing to hold this event in the future to both showcase our students’ writing abilities and to inspire our future writers.
I am also grateful for our staff who organized Keystone’s first Fun and Friendship Day. During this time, our Special Olympic competitors had the opportunity to meet their peer buddy, who will accompany them to the yearly competition today at Ely Stadium in Elyria. Competitors and their peer buddies are both embracing the Special Olympics motto, “Let me win, but if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.”
In administrative news, we are making an important and beneficial update to our PowerSchool system. PowerSchool enables parents to check grades, assignments, attendance, and schedules for their students. In addition, PowerSchool enables us to connect the All-Call system, a vital communication resource, with parents and staff. During the update, however, we are unable to transfer the current family, parent, and/or student information stored in the program. We, along with several other school districts, apologize for this inconvenience and ask that you complete and submit the Contact Form, which was sent home with your student at the beginning of the month. The contact form is also available for viewing and printing on our website at https://www.keystonelocalschools.org/about/news/1659370/powerschool-contact-form.
Graduation will be held next week, on Friday, May 24 at First Baptist Church on 301 in Elyria. The doors will open at 6:30, and graduation begins at 7pm. Tickets are required for admission. Congratulations in advance to our 2018-2019 graduating class!!
