Bullying Report / Policy
Per recently adopted board policy (12/17/07), I am required to semi-annually provide you with a written summary of all reported incidents of bullying/harassment/intimidation. Further, a summary report is to be posted on the district web page. The attached report serves to meet this requirement for the first semester of the 2011-2012 school year.
Harassment, intimidation or bullying are defined as intentional written, verbal, or physical acts that a student has exhibited toward another particular student or group of students more than once and the behavior both:
1. Causes mental or physical harm to the other student or group of students; and
2. Is sufficiently severe, persistent, or pervasive that it creates an intimidating, threatening or abusive educational environment for the other student.
The spreadsheet attached includes two reports. The first report is a summary of the number of incidents of harassment, intimidation, or bullying as reported by the building principal or assistant principal. Reporting categories include: written incidents, verbal incidents, physical incidents, and combined verbal/physical incidents. Incidents are tallied by building and by category.
The second report lists the remedial action taken. Categories include: Counseled, In-School Assignment (ISA), Bus Suspension, Out-of School Suspension, and Police Referral. Remedial action counts may be duplicated (example an out-of-school suspension and police referral may occur for the same incident).
Sincerely,
Jay Arbaugh,
Superintendent
